Each of the solutions below only work in a few of the cases for me.
#End key on mac fix mac os x
My solution above is compatible with the latest version of Mac OS X (Mountain Lion), and is also the default key binding for xterm, remote shells (ssh), vi(m), and also GNU screen.
The main problem with each solution below is that they only work part of the time. Other links that worked but had problems: Some Linux/Unix Friendly Keycodes (submit your own in the comments): The right key code for “end” is exactly like “home” but you replace the “H” with an “F”.To enter the right key code, clear the box and type these keys in order: ESCAPE O H (that’s a capital letter o, not a zero).Select the line that has the word “home” in the “Key” column. In the right pane, select the Keyboard button to see keyboard settings.Under Settings, select a Profile you want to change.Select Preferences from the Terminal Menu. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4. If you want to make your Terminal operate like a standard Unix-like terminal, follow these simple steps: Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. Luckily, the Mac Terminal has the ability to let the intrepid user customize it’s keybindings. However, since most Terminal applications aim for the Unixy world, they don’t care about scrolling through documents as much as dealing with the line you are on. In nearly every OS, Home has meant “go to the beginning of the line” and End has meant “go to the end of the line,” but on the Mac, the default has always been for Home to scroll a document up to the top and for End to scroll the document down to the bottom. The most frustrating ones are Home and End. Job would be very dissapointed. The Mac Terminal.app is one of the best Terminals I have used, but it has some annoying quirks like not supporting standard key definitions out of the box. Programitically I would imagine that there is some code that is being tripped and the is the buggy result.
#End key on mac fix full
I did download Sophos virus protection afterwards and ran a full scan and the machine is clean.
#End key on mac fix portable
Very annoying considering that the reason why I choose the Mac was because of the much highly over publized assurance that it is more reliable, dependable and worry free portable laptop in the world. I rebooted the Mac and I am now freaking out since its like a ticking time bomb. After disconnecting the keyboard I opened the lid on mac since I use an external monitor and had to do the same as before to stop it. I have a apple usb wired keyboard and thought that was the problem but it wasn't. After attempting to press random keys it stopped but it came back. The computer began to also produce a repeated alarm noise. No matter what I would do it would not stop. Hold shift while doing this to select the characters between cursor positions. But, if you hold down the fn (or control) key, you can use the left and right arrow keys as home and end keys respectively.
#End key on mac fix software
I have a new Maverick software updated MacBook 13 250ssd 8gRam and while going about my business the number 5 was constantly phantomly pressed. Unless you’ve got the full-size apple keyboard, the home and end keys are absent on your desktop or macbook keyboard. Today I experienced this abnormal behavior. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.īTW you also may want to restart in Safe Mode, it's possible you may have a corrupt cache file.Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys.Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R.Press the power button to turn on the computer.Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals. If you have AppleCare give them a call and they can also help you troubleshoot the problem and if necessary arrange a replacement keyboard. If the problem persists you may have a keyboard with a stuck key, in that case it's covered by warranty.
Try doing a SMC reset and PRAM reset, you may need to do each 2x.
